What to do right now

As long as the wrong fuel stays in the tank, this is usually straightforward to fix. It only gets more complicated once the pump pushes it through the lines, filter and injection system.
Leave the ignition off
Do not start the engine and do not switch on the ignition — even that can activate the fuel pump.
Secure the vehicle
Push, do not drive. Tell the petrol station staff and use a warning triangle if you are on the road.

Which case is it?
The three most common mix-ups.
Petrol in a diesel
Diesel lubricates the high pressure pump, petrol does not. Running the engine produces metal debris that travels through the whole system.
Diesel in a petrol car
Usually the milder case. Diesel does not ignite properly in a petrol engine, which fouls the spark plugs and the catalytic converter.

Drain, flush, drive on.

The entire tank content is pumped out, on modern vehicles through the filler neck without removing the tank.
2 · Flush
Lines and filter are flushed so that no residue of the wrong fuel stays in the system.
3 · Refuel
We add the correct fuel. In most cases you drive on immediately.
4 · Dispose
We take the mixture with us and dispose of it properly as hazardous waste.

What does it cost?
Depending on the effort and the distance, a call-out costs between 150 and 600 euros, VAT included. We tell you the exact price on the phone before we set off. That price stands as long as the situation on site matches what you described. You settle up on site, in cash or by EC card.
How fast can you be there?
In Hamburg and the surrounding area usually within an hour. That is a figure from experience, not a promise — at night, when we are busy or further away it takes longer. You get a binding time on the phone.
I already drove off. Is it too late?
No, but it is urgent. Stop, switch the engine off and call. The shorter the engine ran, the more likely it stays a drain and flush job.
Will my car be towed away?
In most cases no. We work mobile at the petrol station, in a safe parking spot or in a yard.
Does insurance cover this?
Depending on your policy, comprehensive cover or a breakdown package may pay. Keep the fuel receipt and our invoice.
